Robert has been busy this month helping Jean Crowder the MP of Cowichan/Nanaimo to create an Earth Day Celebration.  The celebration will be held in downtown Duncan, BC.  To celebrate Earth Day Robert is creating two 10 x 10 canvases for everyone at the Earth Day Celebration to paint on with earth friendly tempera paint.  We will be giving away posters to every child who attends. 

Robert has been involved with a Green Drinks a world wide organization to connect people who care about the environment with one another.  Robert was instrumental in starting the Cowichan Green Drinks in October '07.  To find out more information on Green Drinks or to start a Green Drinks in your town please go to www.greendrinks.org. 

December 'o7 is a busy month for Robert.

On Dec. 1st he is holding his 3rd Annual Art Party it will take palce in his home 6613 Norcross Rd. Duncan, BC starting at 6:00pm until everyone goes home. There will be homemade appetizers, great conversation and colourful art to fill your senses.

On Dec. 12th Robert will be having a group show at the Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery at 127 Lake St. South Kirkland, WA 98033. The opening is on Wed. Dec. 12th starting at 6:00pm until everyone goes home.

On Dec. 15th Robert is conducting a Dancing and Painting Workshop named "Paint Your Prayers". "Paint Your Prayers" will be held at the Mercury Theatre 331 Brea St. Duncan, BC V9L 3T9. The value of this workshop is $ 25.00 if you call and pre-register or $ 30.00 at the door. Robert loves to inspire the creative side of all persons. He hopes you can come to "Paint Your Prayers" and let your childlike self have a go at dancing and painting.

Robert is giving "Feel Free To Paint With Your Inner Child Workshops" at his home 6613 Norcross Rd. Duncan, BC V9L 6C3.  The workshops will be held on Saturday Sept. 8th and Sunday Sept. 23rd starting at 11:00am to 5:00pm. Robert will provide paint, paper, a positive work environment and homemade snacks created by Stephanie.  Also included will be a section of the class dedicated to painting on the computer.  All you need to bring is clothes that can get dirty and your glorious imagination.  Workshop size is limited to four people to keep an intimate setting so call 250-732-4599 or e-mail artisthecenterofearth@yahoo.com to reserve your spot for this journey into you!

The Up Stairs Gallery is the newest place to see Robert's lovely art.  The Up Stairs Gallery is located on the second floor of the Destination Shawnigan 2740 Dundas Road Shawnigan Lake, BC call 250-732-4599 if you have any questions.  The Up Stairs Gallery will feature art from Robert Cerins paintings, Colleen Freeman sculpture, Rob Garbutt wood carver, Nan Goodship ceramics, Carolyn McDonald painter, Emily Morgan sculpture, Peter Spohn painter, and Jean Christie Williams photographer.  Right next door to The Upstairs Gallery is Pipi Home Decor which is Robert's sister Pipi Tustian, there you can find hand painted tablecloths, napkins, curtians, and even a little furniture that Pipi has painted on.

The Victoria Jazz Society asked Robert if he would be willing to create the art for the 2007 Victoria Jazz Festival advertising.  Robert was excited that they wanted him to create the art for the advertising again this year. When you see the Victoria Jazz Festival poster and program you will know it is Robert's art!

The project of the week is "Project Urban Rain Garden" which Robert will start June 3rd and finish June 8th.  Robert will be painting pro bono for this project that his step-daughter Acacia asked him to be a part of.  Acacia is taking a leadership class with Leadership Victoria.  The project Acacia and her group choose to do is "Project Urban Rain Garden" a project to build a rain garden that is fed from rain from the roof of Victoria West Elementary School.  The part of the project Robert is responsible for is, painting what the garden will be like on a canvas that is 30 x 24 feet.  Robert will block in the major portions of the design and then the school children will come June 4th and paint in the big sections of colour.  Robert loves working with children so he is delighted to guide them on this project.     

Robert's fourth show for April 2007 will be at the Cowichan Valley Arts Council Show http://www.cowichanvalleyartscouncil.ca/.  The show will be held at the Quw'utsun' Cultural and Conference Centre 200 Cowinchan Way, Duncan BC.  The opening will be April 26th, 2007 starting at 5:00pm to 7:00pm there will be a Patrons Opening then the Gala Opening starts at 7:00pm to 10:00pm Robert & Stephanie will be in attendance.  We hope you can make it.

Robert will be a part of two more group shows this spring one at the Nanaimo Art Gallery, Nanaimo, BC. http://web.mala.bc.ca/nanaimogallery/downtown.htm this show starts March 31st and ends on April 14, '07 the opening for the show will be on Saturday April 7th from 11am to 4pm there will be and Ikebana demonstration by Keilo Bottomley, edible art event, refreshments and more. Robert will be having his third group show at The Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery in Kirkland, Wa http://www.gunnarnordstrom.com/ this show starts with the opening 12th of April.  Gunnar always makes his openings a joy to attend there is speciality drinks, yummy appetizers and great conversation.

Robert is having his first Art Show of 2007.  The opening is at On Canvas Gallery 538-B Yates Street downtown Victoria, BC. on Saturday, March, 10th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. There will be goodies to munch and something to drink. On Canvas Gallery has a high ceiling, large stunning white walls, that eagerly await the new artist's works of passion, each time Karin Cooper gallery ownwer of On Canvas decorates for a show. Along with Robert at the show will be Kyra Crouzat, Deb Delaney, Beth Dunlop, and Karin Holdegaard. We hope that you can make it! Robert's art is on display at a new gallery. It is called Eye For Art on 2265 Oak Bay Avenue, Oak Bay, BC V8R 1G6 phone number 250-732-4599 on Vancouver Island. Eye For Art has been open for about four years in Oak Bay but just got this wonderful location during the summer of 2006. We look forward to helping with their success having Robert's colourful, whimsical art on Jane Conner's inviting walls. The opening for this group show was Dec. 7, 2006.

Robert has been invited to join two on-line galleries the first is the Saatchi Your Gallery site. Charles Saatchi is a world renowed art collector in London. He is building a new gallery in the Chelsea area of London by the Thames River.

On Dec. 13th, 2006 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm Gunnar will be having an opening for his 21st Anniversary at the Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery in Kirkland, WA. The show will run from the 13th of December to the 8th of January 2007. We hope you can stop by. Directions to the gallery can be found on the exibition page of the Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery web site.
