"Robeartoe The Spirit Bear" is Robert Cerins interpertation of how cheer up the planet with art!
"Robeartoe" came into being with the help of the BC Lions Society. The project is called "Spirit Bears In The City".The project involves installing seven foot bears that have been painted by local BC Artists, in the front of business that have supported the BC Lions Society for dislabed children in the cities of Vancouver, BC, Victoria, BC
and Vancouver Island, BC.
When Robert was asked by Dr. Jay Cornell if he wanted to paint a seven foot fibre glass bear Robert was thrilled. He had just finished the artists paperwork for painting a bear through the Lions Society about two weeks eariler. Robert was also excited that it was Dr. Jay Cornell his dentist and Dr. Trevor Miranda his optometrist, who wanted him to paint their bear. Dr. Jay Cornell is a collector of Robert's art and last year Robert painted a picture of Dr. Cornell's dental office. "Robeartoe" is in front of the offices of Dr. Jay Cornell and Dr. Trevor Miranda at the back of the Valley View shopping mall in Cowichan Bay, BC and he will remain there until October '06 then "Robeartoe" will get to go to a black tie auction where he will be sold to the highest bidder. We will get the date and location of the auction online as soon as we know.
It is Robert's hope that all who see "Robeartoe" will smile and that some might even and count the hearts that he has painted throughout the pearlescent imagery. Robert loves children as he is quite childlike himself. Robert hopes that his effort will help the Lions Society to continue to serve the needs of the disabled children in BC.
Robert also wants to Thank Dr. Cornell, Dr. Miranda and the BC Lions Society for the chance to take part in this wonderful event.
